A Little More About Me…
I have a serious love for social media and digital communication theory. In 2011 I graduated magna cum laude from the University of Wisconsin-Stout with a degree in Information & Communication Technologies (Digital Media). When I first started my post-secondary education I majored in marketing. After one semester I quickly realized that the Internet and new media technologies were changing everything.
When I arrived at UW-Stout in 2007 I knew that I wanted to leave an impression on the campus community, one that I could be proud of. Three months into my arrival I teamed up with another ICT student to start a cutting-edge student organization. Together we founded an emerging media news organization called StoutMedia. I became the vice president and held that position for two years. The organization still thrives today and works with a five-figure budget.
StoutMedia caught the eye of university administrators and faculty. This recognition as innovative leaders in technology led to being hired as a Digital Media Specialist for the university. I worked under the Vice Chancellor for Student Life Services and gave numerous presentations to Chancellor Charles W. Sorensen on how UW-Stout could shape its use of technology. I worked on website wireframing, content management and social media for multiple departments. My undergraduate research in this university position was featured in a book that was published in early 2011.
I love technology. I love living in this day and age, it’s one of the most exciting periods in recent history. I love using new technologies and identifying how the masses will use it and adapt to it. I love analyzing how people work and figuring out what they will “adjust to” and what they wont. This love makes my interest much more than a job or career choice, it’s a passion.
